Making a plan
- Tap Start a plan and say what you're planning, like Thanksgiving at Mom's. We suggest a name and dates, and you can change them.
- Pick how long it is, then when it could be. Pick a custom range lets you tap a first day and a last day.
- Tap the days that work for you, or tap I'll pick my dates later.
- Choose how names get on the list: I Add Everyone's Name, or They Add Their Name, where people tap the link, add their name and pick their days.
- Check it all on Review and send, then tap Looks good.
Sharing the link
- After you send it, share the plan's link wherever your group talks: Text it, WhatsApp, Email or Copy link.
- Anyone with the link can see the names and days picked, so share it only with your group.
- To nudge people who haven't picked yet, open the plan and tap Remind people.
Picking days
- Open the link, tap Start, pick your name or add it, tap the dates that work for you and tap Finish. You don't need an account.
- Picking for someone else, like grandma? Pick her name.
- Private plans ask for your email first. We email you a 6-digit code, or you can tap the button in your invite email.
Setting the date
- Open the plan and tap Set this date on the row you want.
- Everyone on the plan sees It's on! with the date. Tap Tell everyone to send it to the group, and people who got an email invite get an It's on! email.
- Tap Add to my calendar to put it in Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
- Plans change. Tap Change the date to pick another day, and people who got the email hear about the new one.
Checking your calendar
Check my calendar puts stripes on days that look busy. You still tap your days.
- Google skips events marked free, so they don't look busy.
- Kept on your account, every calendar of each Google, Outlook and Apple account you connect is checked, and you choose which count. A check done once looks only at your main Google calendar or your default Outlook calendar.
- To remove our access at Microsoft, sign in at account.microsoft.com, open Privacy, then the apps that can see your data, and remove This Date Works. Work or school accounts: myapplications.microsoft.com.
- To remove our access at Apple, sign in at account.apple.com, open Sign-In and Security, then App-Specific Passwords, and delete the one you made for This Date Works.
- Signed in, you can turn off Google, Outlook or Apple in Your account.
- Tap a striped day to see what's on it, and choose which of your calendars count in My calendars.
- Any calendar with a subscription link (webcal:// or .ics) works too: in My calendars, tap Subscribe with a link.
- Connect as many as you use: in Your account, tap Add another for a second Google, Outlook or Apple account. They all count together.
- Signed in, the dates plans set go into a This Date Works calendar in your Google, Outlook or Apple account, and move when the date does. Choose where, or turn it off, in Your account under Add set dates to.
Organizing a plan
- Lost your organizer link? On the phone you made the plan on, sign in. Then sign in on your new phone.
- If strangers got your link, remove their names, or delete the plan and make a new one.
- To change the name, days, time or place, open the plan and tap Edit plan.
- Forgot someone? Open the plan, tap Edit plan, then Add people. Signed in, we email them the invite.
- To delete a plan, open it, tap Edit plan, then Delete this plan.
Invite emails
- Signed in, we email your invite to people with an email, after you check it and tap Looks good. We list everyone else so you can send them the link yourself.
- Each organizer can send a limited number of emails a day, and each address gets only a few. People over a limit are listed so you can send them the link.
- Every invite has a link to stop emails from that organizer or from us, and a way to report abuse. We stop emailing addresses that bounce or report spam.
- After complaints from different people, we pause that organizer's email invites.
Accounts
- You don't need an account to answer, or to make a plan and share its link.
- Sign in for free to have us email your invites, save people for next time and keep more plans open.
- Without an account: 1 open plan at a time, with up to 20 names. Signed in: your first 3 plans that other people answer are free, with up to 50 names each. After that, unlimited plans are $4.99, paid once.
- To delete your account, open Your account and tap Delete my account.
Add it to your Home Screen
- On an iPhone, in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- On Android, in Chrome, tap Add to Home Screen when it's offered, or find it in the menu.
- It then opens like an app, one tap away. There's nothing to download.
How we read dates in a plan's name
Words in a plan's name, like next weekend or Thanksgiving, pick the dates we start with. You always see the dates and can pick others.
- Dates and names are worked out by fixed rules on our own server. Nothing you type is sent to an outside AI service.
- Words that go out of date, like next weekend, are taken out of the saved name.
- Summer is the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day. Fall is the day after Labor Day through November 30. Winter is December 1 through the end of February. Spring is March 1 until summer starts.
- A holiday alone means its long weekend: Thanksgiving is Thursday to Sunday, Easter is Good Friday to Sunday, and Monday holidays are Saturday to Monday.
- Christmas alone starts on Christmas Eve and runs through that weekend. New Year's alone starts on New Year's Eve.
- Early November is the 1st to the 10th, mid November the 11th to the 20th, and late November the 21st to the end.
- Month and season words count only after words like in, during or this, so Dinner with June isn't June.
- For now we know US holidays and Northern Hemisphere seasons.
